Straight answers about today’s gold price in Malaysia and how EVG Gold pricing works.
EVG Gold’s price board refreshes about every 15 minutes on weekdays between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM Malaysia time (MYT). Each refresh takes a new market snapshot: the international gold price in US dollars per troy ounce is converted to ringgit at the prevailing USD/MYR rate, divided into grams, and our We Sell and We Buy rates are published from that. Outside those hours — evenings, weekends and public holidays — the last quote stays on the board and remains the rate you trade at, so you can still buy or sell anytime; it simply will not move until the next session. The timestamp beside the price tells you exactly when the current quote was taken. When comparing rates across Malaysian dealers, check that their timestamp is from the same session: a quote left over from the previous evening can differ from a live one by more than the spread.
We Sell is the price you pay EVG Gold when you buy gold; We Buy is the price EVG Gold pays you when you sell gold back to us. Both are quoted in ringgit per gram of 999.9 gold and both move with the market at every refresh. The gap between them is the spread, which covers execution and market costs — it is the only cost built into the price, so the rate you see is the rate you pay or receive, with no separate commission at checkout. To value what you already hold, multiply your grams by the current We Buy rate; to see what a purchase will cost, use We Sell. Because both sides are published on the same board with the same timestamp, you can see the spread for yourself before you trade. When comparing gold dealers in Malaysia, the width of that spread and how openly it is shown are the two things that matter most.
Yes. You can buy and sell anytime. Quotes only refresh during Malaysian market hours; outside those hours you trade at the latest quoted We Sell / We Buy rates on the board.
All live rates on this page are quoted in Malaysian ringgit (RM) per gram of 999.9 gold, the unit most Malaysians buy and save in. International markets quote gold in US dollars per troy ounce (31.1035 g), so a per-gram ringgit price already has the exchange rate and the ounce-to-gram conversion built in — you can compare it directly with what a gold shop or bank quotes per gram. For larger units, the tables on this page also show the price per tahil (37.5 g, the traditional Malaysian trade unit), per tola (11.6638 g), per troy ounce and per kilogram; each is the live per-gram rate multiplied by the weight. If you are pricing jewellery, remember that shops quote 916 gold plus workmanship, so the metal value of a 916 piece is lower than the 999.9 rate shown here — use the purity table above for the indicative 916 figure.
No. 916 gold — also called 22K — is 91.6% pure and is the standard for jewellery in Malaysia, where retail prices bundle in workmanship and a shop margin, so a jewellery quote is not a pure metal price. EVG Gold quotes 999.9 (24K, 99.99% pure) investment gold in ringgit per gram with a transparent We Sell and We Buy board, and 999.9 is the only gold we trade. To help you compare, the purity table on this page shows an indicative 916 rate: the live 999.9 price multiplied by 0.916. Treat it as the metal value of 916 gold, not as an offer — a jeweller’s price will be higher when you buy, and when you sell 916 jewellery back you will usually be offered that metal value minus a discount. For saving or investing, 999.9 is the purer and more liquid choice.
Quotes typically refresh on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Malaysia time. Weekends and public holidays follow market closure rules for price updates — not for trading availability.

The 916 gold price today in Malaysia is an indicative figure derived from our live 999.9 rate: the We Sell price per gram multiplied by 0.916 (91.6% purity). The purity table above updates it with every price refresh, alongside 999, 835, 750, 585 and 375 tiers, and it tells you what the gold inside a 916 piece is worth at today’s market price. Jewellers charge more than this for new pieces because they add workmanship, design and retail margin, and they typically pay a little less than the metal value when buying jewellery back. EVG Gold does not sell 916 gold; our board is for 999.9 investment gold, which is why the 999.9 row is marked Live and the others Indicative. If you are choosing between jewellery and investment gold, compare the 916 metal value with the 999.9 rate to see how much of a jewellery price is craftsmanship rather than gold.
One tahil (also written tael) is 37.5 grams in Malaysian gold trade, so the gold price per tahil is the live per-gram rate multiplied by 37.5. The units table on this page shows it for both We Sell and We Buy, together with the price per tola (11.6638 g), per troy ounce (31.1035 g) and per kilogram, all refreshed with every snapshot. Tahil and tola are still used by older gold shops and in family gold, while bullion dealers and the international market work in grams and troy ounces; converting everything to ringgit per gram is what makes quotes comparable. Note that some Hong Kong and Singapore dealers define a tael as 37.799 g, so check which convention a quote uses before comparing. With EVG Gold you buy by the gram from as little as RM50, so you never need to round up to a full tahil.
The Malaysian gold price starts from the international spot price, which is quoted in US dollars per troy ounce (XAU/USD). To get a ringgit price per gram: multiply the spot price by the USD/MYR exchange rate, then divide by 31.1035, the number of grams in a troy ounce. For example, at US$3,300 per ounce and RM4.20 to the dollar, pure gold is worth about RM445.60 per gram before any dealer margin. Dealers then set their buy and sell prices around that value; the difference between them is the spread. This is why the gold price in Malaysia moves not only with the world gold price but also with the ringgit — a weaker ringgit raises the local price even when gold is flat in dollars. EVG Gold refreshes its board from market snapshots about every 15 minutes during market hours and publishes the resulting We Sell and We Buy rates, with the time of the snapshot shown beside the price.
The chart on this page plots EVG Gold’s We Sell rate in ringgit per gram. Use the 1D chip for today’s session in 15-minute steps, 1W and 1M for the recent trend, and 3M or 1Y for the longer picture; the period change beside the chart compares the first and last points of the range you selected. Below the chart, the price history table lists the last 30 daily closes with each day’s change, and the change-over-time table compares today’s price with one day, one week, one month and one year ago. All figures are in Malaysian ringgit per gram for 999.9 gold, so you can read them directly against the live board without converting from US dollars per ounce. A chart shows where the price has been, not where it is going — use it to understand volatility and to plan regular purchases, not as a forecast.
Yes — with one honest caveat. The board is live in the sense that it refreshes automatically from market snapshots about every 15 minutes on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Malaysia time, and the timestamp beside the price tells you when the current quote was taken. It is not a tick-by-tick feed: the international market moves every second, and our published rate catches up at the next snapshot. Between refreshes, and outside market hours, the last quote is the rate at which you can buy or sell, so what you see is always what you get — there is no re-quote at checkout. If you need the raw figures for your own tracking, the same data is available from our public price API in JSON, and this page also lists the last 30 daily closes so you can check how the rate has moved without waiting for the chart to load.
